How to Install Your SunShift System: A Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome to your journey towards smarter solar management with SunShift. Follow these simple steps to get your system up and running efficiently:

1. Attach the antennas.
  1. Start by attaching the RF and GSM antennas to your SunShift device.
  2. Each Antenna is labeled near its base to help you identify which is which.
  3. The back label of your SunShift device will have a GSM or RF indicator right next to the antenna connectors.
  4. Match up the antenna with the back label on the SunShift device and fasten the antennas.
Please note: For the best signal reception, the Antennas must point towards the roof.
2. Power on your SunShift Device
Use the supplied power supply
  1. Plug the supplied power supply into an AC socket and the SunShift device.
  2. Remove the battery isolation sleeve sticking out of your SunShift device on the left.
  3. Switch on AC power.
The Power, Link and RF lights each convey information about your SunShift device.
Power LED:
  1. On and not blinking: The SunShift unit is being powered by AC power.
  2. On and blinking slowly: If the light is blinking once per second, then the SunShift unit is running on battery power. Ensure that AC power is on and plugged in.
  3. On and blinking quickly: If the light is blinking multiple times per second, then the SunShift unit is running on battery power and the battery is low. This means your unit will go off soon and you should urgently connect AC power to the unit through the supplied power supply.
Link LED:
  1. Off: No network connection has been established. This is normal on first startup and cant take up to five minutes once the SunShift device is turned on for this light to change.
  2. On and not blinking: The SunShift unit is connected to the network and communicating successfully to the Xemote Cloud.
  3. On and blinking slowly: If the light is blinking once per second, then the SunShift unit had a successful network connection, but it has been lost and is attempting to reconnect. 
  4. On and blinking quickly: If the light is blinking multiple times per second then the SunShift unit is connected to a Wi-Fi network. and communicating successfully to the Xemote Cloud.
RF LED:
  1. Off: There are no Xemote RF devices communicating with the SunShift unit.
  2. On: There are Xemote RF devices communicating with the SunShift unit.
  3. Flash: If the light flashes off and on then a message was just received from a Xemote RF device.

3. Connect SunShift to your inverter.
  1. If present, unplug any Wi-Fi dongle from your inverter.
  2. Connect the provided communication cable to both the SunShift device (at the Inverter Input port) and your inverter (at the WiFi/RS232 port).
  3. Secure the connection by tightening the screws on the cable connectors.

4. Download the Xemote Mobile app.
The Xemote mobile app is your new app for viewing your inverter data. It is available on:

  2. Google Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speplar.Xemote&pli=1

5. Log in or create a new user.
  1. Open the Xemote Mobile app, and either log in to your existing account or register a new one.
  2. Verify your email to activate your account.
Remember to check your Junk/Spam folder
  1. If you don't receive the email within 5 minutes of registering, please contact support on support@xemote.co.za or call/WhatsApp 012 665 1122.

6. Create your site.
  1. In the app, navigate to the home screen and tap the plus icon to create a new site,
  2. Allow the app access to your location at least the once so that it can fetch your load shedding area.
  3. Name your site and select your load shedding area and submit.

7. Add your SunShift Device
  1. Click on your newly created site and tap the plus icon.
  2. Give your SunShift a name and scan the QR code on the top right of your SunShift device for the registration key.
  3. Allow the app access to your camera to be able to scan the QR code. 

8. Activate Your Subscription
  1. After adding your SunShift device to the app, select it to subscribe.
  2. Complete the checkout process to activate SunShift control and start enjoying the benefits.
